“Do not litter to clean” – message to Effutu Municipal Assembly Junior High School

Pupils of Effutu Municipal Assembly Junior High School, Winneba, have been advised to desist from indiscriminate littering and encourage people in their communities to adopt good sanitary practices. The advice was given to the pupils when the Director SHAPE Attitude Ghana gave a talk at the school during one of his visits to schools on sensitisation and awareness raising campaigns.

The pupils were told that our mindset and negative attitude toward sanitation and the environment largely account for the poor sanitary conditions and the associated negative consequences of diseases such as malaria, typhoid, intestinal worms and above all environmental degradation. Mr Ghartey advised the pupils to desist from littering and keep their surroundings clean instead of dirtying the surroundings and giving the excuse that it will be cleaned.

The Headmistress of the school, Ms Cecilia Mensah, added her voice to the message from SHAPE Attitude Ghana and urged the pupils to keep their surroundings clean all the time.

Mr Ghartey announced to the school that they have been selected to participate in the cleanliness competition being organised by SHAPE Attitude Ghana and the School for Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). At the end of the talk, the Director donated trash bins and anti-littering educational materials to the school.
