Apaa Paado on the way to recovery

The Apam citizenry came out in their numbers on Saturday morning, 16 March 2019 for the maiden clean-up exercise after the launching of “Making Apam the cleanest city in Ghana” by Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum, the District Chief Executive Officer of the Goma West District Assembly.

The exercise covered the whole town, involving all the electoral areas, but the focus was the Apaa Paado where people from all the electoral areas converged as early as 6 am for a massive clean-up. The citizens are determined to reclaim the Apaa Paado land, which has long been a major drawback to sanitation in Apam, within the shortest possible time.

The District Police Commander, Director of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, Environmental Health Officers, Zoomlion workers, the Information Services Department and the Apam Fire Service joined in the clean-up. Others who took part were elders, church members, Assembly Men, the fishing community and market women.

It is planned to undertake the clean-up exercise continuously until such time that Apam town will be free from filth. The target time to see a significant improvement at Apaa Paado is May 2019.

The Gomoa West District Assembly provided tools and other logistics for the clean-up.
