Coast for Christ Baptist Academy embraces Shape Attitude Ghana

The Coast for Christ Baptist Academy of Sankor, a suburb of Winneba, invited Shape Attitude Ghana to give a talk on indiscriminate littering and open defaecation to the pupils and teachers of the Academy on 29 March 2017.

Mr Kojo Hammond, Chairman of the Management Team assisted by Mr John Quartey, member of the Academy Management introduced the topic and gave a brief background on the objective of the talk. This was followed by an introductory message by the Director of Shape Attitude Ghana Mr Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, on the challenges of waste management facing Ghana and the need to tackle the problem starting from individuals in the community.

Mr Eric Sekyere Appiah, a strong advocate of Shape Attitude in promoting good sanitary conditions, took the pupils through the menace of indiscriminate littering and open defecation and the resulting negative consequences which impedes development in households, communities and the nation at large. He went on to demonstrate how accumulation of plastics and polythene bags in the soil prevent percolation of water thereby affecting the level of underground water. Mr Sekyere, advised the pupils to desist from littering and also apprehend their colleagues and other people who litter but in a very polite manner to avoid confrontations.

After an interesting question and answer time, Mr Hammond added his voice to the poor sanitary conditions in their community, especially open defaecation and employed pupils to halt the practice.

Shape Attitude Ghana donated posters, leaflets, stickers and two trash bins to the Academy at the end of the Talk.

The invitation was arranged by Rev. Dr.  Edward John Enim, Director of Coast for Christ Ministries, Sankor. The academy has 322 school pupils and 19 staff.
