Coast for Christ Ministries intensify efforts to improve on sanitation

The Coast for Christ Ministries of Sankor, a suburb of Winneba, organised a seminar to sensitise residents of Sankor on the dangers of poor sanitary conditions in the community.

The Executive Director of Coast for Christ Ministries, Rev Dr. Enim spoke on the many diseases that are reported at their hospital, the Baptist Hospital in Sankor, which could be avoided if the community kept their surroundings clean. Rev Dr. Enim said that the number one enemy of the community was poor sanitation so they should take all measures to defeat it.

The key speakers at the Seminar, Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, founder of Shape Attitude Ghana, Dr David Essaw of the University of Cape Coast, technical adviser to Shape Attitude, and Ms Herty Tenkorang Amponsah of the Ghana Health Service took turns to present the causes of poor sanitary conditions, the consequences and how they can be prevented.

Shape Attitude Ghana presented posters, leaflets, bag/car stickers and trash bins to the Ministry at the end of the seminar.  Coast of Christ Ministries in turn donated GHC500.00 to support Shape Attitude Ghana activities.

The seminar took place on Saturday, 5 November 2016 at the premises of the Sankor Baptist Church, which is an offspring of Coast for Christ Ministries.

Coast for Christ Ministries is an organisation that works to promote the welfare of fisher folks in selected towns and villages along the Coast of Ghana. Apart from the Baptist Church, it has a school and a hospital at Sankor.

Present at the seminar were Rev. Jeremiah Maigah, Rev. Degraft Mensah, members of the Baptist Church, Sankor, Opinion Leaders and Assembly men.

Mr Nelson Addo Ofori, Mr Eric Sekyere Appiah and Mr Amos Amamoo all of University of Education, Winneba and representing Shape Attitude Ghana were in attendance to provide support in running the seminar.

Ms Regina Bonney and Ms Keziah of Radio Peace, Winneba, were present to cover the event.

The seminar was preceded by a meeting of Shape Attitude Ghana on Friday evening, 4 November 2016 to review progress of implementation of activities of the organisation. The meeting ended with a decision to adopt a “Litter Free Winneba in 2017” agenda to be launched in the first quarter of 2017.
