SHAPE Attitude Ghana and University of Education, Winneba (UEW) formalise their collaborative work on Sanitation

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and SHAPE Attitude Ghana have signed a memorandum of understanding to formalise their collaboration on promoting good sanitary practices on UEW campus. The MoU would enable the partners to intensify their sensitisation and awareness campaigns for the students to adopt positive attitude towards environmental cleanliness.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, in his introductory remarks expressed concern about the negative attitude of many Ghanaians towards environmental cleanliness and forest degradation.  He stated that plastic pollution has been troubling to him for a long time and was, therefore, happy about the initiative taken by SHAPE Attitude Ghana to enter into partnership with UEW to promote environmental cleanliness.

The Founder and CEO of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, gave a chronicle of support received from the University and the collaborative activities with UEW from 2014 to 2021. Among the activities were joint observance of World Environment Day, anniversary of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, orientation of freshers and theatre for development. Mr Ghartey expressed hope that with the MoU, collaborative efforts will be scaled up to involve all spheres of the University community. He urged members of the Task Force who would be coordinating the activities to be selfless and focused on achievement of results. He said the key to their success is commitment and discipline.

The Vice-Chancellor inaugurated a Task Force on sanitation after signing the MoU. The Task Force is made up of representatives from the University and SHAPE Attitude Ghana. At the end of the ceremony, SHAPE Attitude Ghana donated trash bins and educational materials to the University to support the litter free campaign on campus.

The ceremony, which took place on 2nd March 2021 at the Council Chamber of the University, was attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, Registrar, Suv. Paul Osei-Barima, Esq., Principal of the Ajumako Campus of UEW, Prof. Dominic Kwaku Danso Mensah, Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. E. Kwasi Amponsah, Head of SACOST, Prof. Raheem Kolawole, other Deans of Departments, representatives of GRASAG and SRC and members of the Task Force from the University. Others present were the Director of  Effutu Municipal Education Office, Winneba, Mrs Mabel Judith Micah, who witnessed the MoU for SHAPE Attitude Ghana and Mr J.B.K Ntsiful the PRO of the Education Office. The rest were, Mrs Joana Eshun-Mensah and Mad. Emma Frempong, representing SHAPE Attitude Ghana on the Task Force.
