Shape Attitude Ghana at the annual Christmas party of Radio Peace 88.9 MHz FM, Winneba

Radio Peace 88.9 MHz FM, a community radio station based in Winneba, organised its annual Christmas party for children on December 30, 2016.  The party is usually organised for disadvantaged children in and around Winneba. This year, it was almost 150 children from the Rafiki Orphanage Home and St Annas Children’s Home that were brought together for the party.

The Executive Director of Shape Attitude Ghana was invited to give a talk on sanitation to the children on how they can also contribute the efforts being made to stop indiscriminate littering in the communities. The Executive Director, who is also the Founder of Shape Attitude Ghana, Mr Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, explained the challenges the communities are facing on indiscriminate littering and the associated negative consequences such as diseases and advised the children to desist from littering. He went further and advised them to apprehend, in a very polite way, adults who litter. The Executive Director presented t-shirts to the very young ones. The t-shirts were donated to Shape Attitude Ghana by Mr Sodiq Sulaiman from Geneva, Switzerland. Posters and school bag stickers were also given to the children, teachers, and care takers who accompanied the children.

Other activities were a talk by Mrs Theresa Amu Hammond, a lecturer from the University of Education, Winneba, on the significance of Christmas, quiz, games and songs by the children. Radio Peace  presented awards and gifts such as cups and pens to the children.

The children were refreshed with meals and drinks by Radio Peace, Winneba.

Present at the party were staff of Radio Peace, the wife of the founder of the Radio Station, Mrs Jane Ghartey- Tagoe (Maame Samba), teachers and care takers from the orphanage homes.

A minute of silence was held for the late Mr David Kweku Ghartey-Tagoe, founder and was also Director General of Radio Peace, Winneba. His absence was greatly felt at the party. The Director General passed on at the beginning of 2016.
