Shape Attitude Ghana takes its sensitisation campaign to a training centre

Primarily, Project Shape Attitude Ghana targets young children from ages 3 and 4 in schools and any other locations where they can be reached. Adults are also reached mainly in churches but Shape Attitude Ghana responds to requests from businesses and individuals to give awareness talk on indiscriminate littering and open defaecation at their work places.

The project responded to one of such calls on 24 November 2015 from the proprietor of Gracelove Creations, a fashion design and training centre in Winneba. The call invited Shape Attitude Ghana to give a sensitisational talk to trainees at Gracelove Creations. The trainees were reminded of the consequences of indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse as well as open defaecation in the communities and individual homes. Diseases such as malaria, diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid, acute respiratory infections and intestinal worms were pointed out by Mr. Ghartey as some of the consequences. He also added that the degradation of the environment, choked drainage ways, flooding etc. are also caused by indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse. Having all agreed to the negative consequences, the trainees equally agreed that it calls for individual and collective responsibility in tackling the negative practice by changing (shaping) our attitudes and practices. Mr Ghartey drew attention to fact that money spent in providing health care for avoidable disease could be channelled to developmental projects if the incidence of such diseases were reduced.

At the end of the talk the trainees pledged to keep their compound clean and also ensure that their immediate surroundings remained litter free.  They will stop littering and will question anyone who litters. They were encouraged to take the campaign to their communities.
The proprietor Madam Grace Osae added her voice to the call for the trainees to keep their surroundings clean.
