World Environment Day 2023 and 9th Anniversary of Shape Attitude Ghana

The 2023 World Environment Day falls on Monday, 5th June 2023. As has been the practice, Shape Attitude Ghana in collaboration with The Ghana Education Service, Effutu Municipality, and the University of Education, Winneba will observe the day with schools in the Municipality.

This year’s theme is “Invest in our planet” to be hosted by CÔte d’Ivoire.  CÔte d’Ivoire has chosen to focus on “Solutions to plastic pollution” which is in line with Shape Attitude Ghana’s objective of promoting a litter-free environment. As the anniversary of Shape Attitude also falls in June, the two will be jointly observed at the local with the theme “Less plastic, more life.”

The main activity for the day will be “pick up of litter” on all school compounds and extended to cover the immediate surroundings of about 20 meters from the school where possible. The exercise is intended to last for thirty minutes to one hour starting from 7 am. At the end of the exercise, the Director of Education will address pupils from University Practice School, South (UNIPRA South), and the cluster of schools around UNIPRA South.
