Mr. Wonderful Baisie Ghartey

Wonderful Baisie Ghartey is a retired senior officer from the World Health Organisation’s Headquarters in Geneva. He joined the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Global Programme on HIV/AIDS (GPA) in Geneva, Switzerland as a Technical Officer responsible for programme development and management in May 1992. He continued to work with WHO/GPA in Namibia and Botswana until 1996 when he joined UNAIDS in Geneva as Geographic Desk Officer for Africa and Middle East. He had earlier worked with UNDP and the World Bank in Uganda as Economic Planner. In Zimbabwe, he worked on WHO’s Expanded Programme on Immunization as an administrator and later at the WHO Regional Office in Brazzaville and Burundi country office. 

He started his career at the Central Regional Development Corporation (CEREDEC) in 1977 working in various capacities before becoming Operations Officer responsible for project planning and management.  

He is currently the founder of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, an Organisation that aims at building a culture of clean environment at all times among the population through sensitisation and raising awareness to change attitude and practices on littering and open defecation.

Wonderful Baisie Ghartey holds a Graduate Diploma in Health Economics from Curtin University, Perth, in Australia; M.Sc. in Regional Planning from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology from University of Ghana, Legon.  He has had training in Project Planning and Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Ghana.

Apart from the countries where Wonderful stayed and worked for several years, he has visited several countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and United States of America.
