The Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST), UEW in collaboration with SHAPE Attitude Ghana, toured some areas at the North Campus of UEW on June 5, 2021 to mark the 2021 World Environment Day (WED). The tour included officials from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana Education Service (GES) and Environmental Health and Sanitation Department, Winneba
Final year students in accredited tertiary institutions receive orientation before they start their mandatory national service. The 2021 pre-service orientation in the Central Region of Ghana which started in March 2021, was organised by the Central Regional Office of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The orientation is meant to prepare the students for their one-year National Service before they are posted to their stations.
The University Practice Primary School, Cape Coast, received a donation of trash bins, posters and leaflets on environment cleanliness from SHAPE Attitude Ghana on 16th March 2021. Receiving the items, the Headmistress of the school Mrs Georgina Agblobitse, told the pupils of the importance of environmental cleanliness and how it helps to prevent diseases and maintain the beauty of the surroundings. She expressed their gratitude for the donation with a promise that the items will be put to good use and look forward to future collaboration with SHAPE Attitude Ghana.
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and SHAPE Attitude Ghana have signed a memorandum of understanding to formalise their collaboration on promoting good sanitary practices on UEW campus. The MoU would enable the partners to intensify their sensitisation and awareness campaigns for the students to adopt positive attitude towards environmental cleanliness.
The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church held its Annual Women’s Convention /Camp Meeting in Winneba from 12th to 14th February 2021. The theme for the Convention was “Globally Committed to Environmental Stewardship.” In this theme, the conference discussed protection of the environment from destruction. As environmental cleanliness was central to the theme, SHAPE Attitude Ghana was invited to share its vision and experience in promoting environmental cleanliness with the delegates.
SHAPE Attitude Ghana met with the executives of Conference of Heads of Basic Schools in Winneba on 23rd October 2020 to discuss plans for resumption of SHAPE Attitude activities in the basic schools when the schools reopen in January 2021.
The 6th anniversary and stay clean awards of Shape Attitude Ghana which was slated for celebration on June 12, 2020, could not come off due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic. The Government of Ghana closed down schools and also placed restrictions on social gatherings as part of measures and guidelines to control the spread of the virus. In order not to let the occasion slide without any commemoration, the organisation resorted to a live discussion online.

As part of their project work, five final year students of the Theatre Arts Department of the University of Education, Winneba, undertook their project work at Awombrew, on the Winneba - Swedru road, about fifteen minutes’ drive from Winneba. The project title was “Curbing poor sanitation using Theatre For Development as an intervention.” The five member team made up of Christabel Ama Darke, Clementia Afe-Sefakor Lartey, Yahya Mumuni, Alex Oppong and Isaac Kwofie Lartey, stayed in the village throughout the period of their project work.
School pupils in Winneba have been urged to continue to play the role of agents of change to stop indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse. This advice was given by John Kennedy Sumo and Yann Ziolkowski from Geneva, Switzerland, when they visited some schools that SHAPE Attitude Ghana work with on 31st October 2019.
