School pupils in Winneba have been urged to continue to play the role of agents of change to stop indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse. This advice was given by John Kennedy Sumo and Yann Ziolkowski from Geneva, Switzerland, when they visited some schools that SHAPE Attitude Ghana work with on 31st October 2019.
Shape Attitude Ghana was invited to have a word with over 300 students who have taken it upon themselves to be true ambassadors of nature. The event which was held on 23rd October, 2019 at the Faculty of Educational Studies was a general meeting for the Geography Students Association (GEOSA) of the University of Education, Winneba.
The GEOSA members have hitherto undertaken some cleanliness and tree planting campaigns on the university premises. They are made up of all students who are reading Geography Education in the University.
The Ghana Association of Former International Civil Servants (GAFICS) has donated ten computers to schools in Winneba. The donation was part of GAFICS support to the efforts of SHAPE Attitude Ghana in promoting environmental cleanliness among pupils in Winneba schools through change in attitude.
Mr Andrew K. Asamoah and five others were honoured with a citation on the 5th Anniversary of SHAPE Attitude Ghana on 14th June 2019 for their support to the Organisation since its inception in 2014. The other members are Ms Angela Karmand, Ms Anne Buckley, Mr Emmanuel Woode, Mr William Freeman Goku and Mr Emmanuel Kutorglo.
SHAPE Attitude Ghana celebrated its 5th Anniversary on 14th June 2019. The event was marked by a durbar and presentation of 2018/2019 Stay Clean Awards to schools in Winneba.
Five (5) years on, the Sanitation, Health, Attitude & Practices for clean Environment (SHAPE) project is still focused and committed to sensitizing local communities to change their attitude towards keeping their surroundings clean and eventually build a sustained habit towards environmental cleanliness.
Schools in Apam in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region have started receiving sensitisation and awareness messages from SHAPE Attitude Ghana. The programme of visiting the schools was as a result of discussions with the District Chief Executive of Gomoa West District Assembly and agreement of the Gomoa West Education Service.
Final year students in accredited tertiary institutions in the Central Region of Ghana have been advised to be ambassadors in promoting good sanitary practices during their national service assignment. The advice was given by the Director of SHAPE Attitude Ghana at the orientation of final year students of accredited tertiary institutions in Winneba and Cape Coast, who would be going out for their National Service in 2019/20.
The Apam citizenry came out in their numbers on Saturday morning, 16 March 2019 for the maiden clean-up exercise after the launching of “Making Apam the cleanest city in Ghana” by Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum, the District Chief Executive Officer of the Goma West District Assembly.
The Goma West District Assembly in the Central Region of Ghana in collaboration SHAPE Attitude Ghana and the Chiefs of Apam launched a campaign at Apam on 3 March 2019 under the theme “Making Apam the cleanest city in Ghana: a collective responsibility of the citizenry.”
