Schools in Apam in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region have started receiving sensitisation and awareness messages from SHAPE Attitude Ghana. The programme of visiting the schools was as a result of discussions with the District Chief Executive of Gomoa West District Assembly and agreement of the Gomoa West Education Service.
Final year students in accredited tertiary institutions in the Central Region of Ghana have been advised to be ambassadors in promoting good sanitary practices during their national service assignment. The advice was given by the Director of SHAPE Attitude Ghana at the orientation of final year students of accredited tertiary institutions in Winneba and Cape Coast, who would be going out for their National Service in 2019/20.
The Apam citizenry came out in their numbers on Saturday morning, 16 March 2019 for the maiden clean-up exercise after the launching of “Making Apam the cleanest city in Ghana” by Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum, the District Chief Executive Officer of the Goma West District Assembly.
The Goma West District Assembly in the Central Region of Ghana in collaboration SHAPE Attitude Ghana and the Chiefs of Apam launched a campaign at Apam on 3 March 2019 under the theme “Making Apam the cleanest city in Ghana: a collective responsibility of the citizenry.”
Fishing communities at Yepemso, Osakam Fish market and Sankor all suburbs of Winneba have received sensitisation and awareness message on adopting good sanitary practices especially, domestic waste disposal, littering and open defaecation.
Religious societies have been urged to act as brake pads for vehicles or baking yeast for preparing bread in promoting positive attitudes in the communities to maintain clean surroundings. The host of the programme, Mr Nelson Zulu, asked about the objective of SHAPE Attitude Ghana and measures that Ghana has put in place to ensure environmental cleanliness was achieved.
A group of students belonging to War Against Poor Sanitation from the University of Education (WAPS-UEW), SHAPE Attitude Ghana, the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana, UEW (GRASAG-UEW) the Environmental Health Office of the Effutu Municipality, Zoom Lion and Yepemso Youth joined hands for a cleanup exercise at Yepemso, a suburb of Winneba, on 15 September 2018 to mark the World Cleanup Day.
The 2018 Stay Clean Competition in schools, organised by SHAPE Attitude Ghana, was launched by the Director of Education of Effutu Municipality of the Ghana Education Service in June 2018. After some weeks of preparation, activities for the competition were rolled out on 13th September 2018 at a meeting held at the Adventist Preparatory School, Winneba.
The objective of the competition is to use thirty-one selected schools as agents to influence the communities where the schools are located in adopting good sanitary practices.
