A.M.E. Zion Church Committed to Environmental Protection

The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church held its Annual Women’s Convention /Camp Meeting in Winneba from 12th to 14th February 2021. The theme for the Convention was “Globally Committed to Environmental Stewardship.” In this theme, the conference discussed protection of the environment from destruction. As environmental cleanliness was central to the theme, SHAPE Attitude Ghana was invited to share its vision and experience in promoting environmental cleanliness with the delegates.

Shape Attitude Ghana Observes 6th Anniversary via Live Discussion

The 6th anniversary and stay clean awards of Shape Attitude Ghana which was slated for celebration on June 12, 2020, could not come off due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic. The Government of Ghana closed down schools and also placed restrictions on social gatherings as part of measures and guidelines to control the spread of the virus. In order not to let the occasion slide without any commemoration, the organisation resorted to a live discussion online.

The annual pre-service orientation for final year students in tertiary institutions in the Central Region of Ghana started on 13th February 2020. The orientation, organised by the Central Regional Office of the National Service Scheme (NSS), is meant to prepare the students for their one year National Service before they are posted to their stations.

As part of their project work, five final year students of the Theatre Arts Department of the University of Education, Winneba, undertook their project work at Awombrew, on the Winneba - Swedru road, about fifteen minutes’ drive from Winneba. The project title was “Curbing poor sanitation using Theatre For Development as an intervention.” The five member team made up of Christabel Ama Darke, Clementia Afe-Sefakor Lartey, Yahya Mumuni, Alex Oppong and Isaac Kwofie Lartey, stayed in the village throughout the period of their project work.

GEOSA

Shape Attitude Ghana was invited to have a word with over 300 students who have taken it upon themselves to be true ambassadors of nature. The event which was held on 23rd October, 2019 at the Faculty of Educational Studies was a general meeting for the Geography Students Association (GEOSA) of the University of Education, Winneba.

The GEOSA members have hitherto undertaken some cleanliness and tree planting campaigns on the university premises. They are made up of all students who are reading Geography Education in the University.
