Churches urged to act as "brake pads" in halting negative attitudes

Religious societies have been urged to act as brake pads for vehicles or baking yeast for preparing bread in promoting positive attitudes in the communities to maintain clean surroundings. The Project Director of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, Mr Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, gave this advice when he addressed the congregation of the Bethel Methodist Church at Kojo Beedu, a suburb of Winneba, on Sunday 11 November 2018.

The SHAPE Attitude Experience Shared in Zambia

A Zambian TV station “Q-TV”, hosted the Director of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, Wonderful Baisie Ghartey on their Monday morning show on 29th October 2018 to share their experiences on environmental cleanliness. A group of students belonging to War Against Poor Sanitation from the University of Education (WAPS-UEW), SHAPE Attitude Ghana, the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana, UEW (GRASAG-UEW) the Environmental Health Office of the Effutu Municipality, Zoom Lion and Yepemso Youth joined hands for a cleanup exercise at Yepemso, a suburb of Winneba, on 15 September 2018 to mark the World Cleanup Day.

Activities for 2018 Stay Clean Competition in Schools rolled out

The 2018 Stay Clean Competition in schools, organised by SHAPE Attitude Ghana, was launched by the Director of Education of Effutu Municipality of the Ghana Education Service in June 2018. After some weeks of preparation, activities for the competition were rolled out on 13th September 2018 at a meeting held at the Adventist Preparatory School, Winneba.

The objective of the competition is to use thirty-one selected schools as agents to influence the communities where the schools are located in adopting good sanitary practices.

Enforce sanitation laws to accelerate the gains of sensitisation campaigns

District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies have been challenged to enforce sanitation laws in their areas of jurisdiction but not wait for the central government’s directive before they do so. Sacost Observes 2018 UN-World Environment Day Celebration in Collaboration with SHAPE Attitude Ghana

The Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in collaboration with Department of Theatre Arts and Shape Attitude Ghana on Tuesday, 5th June, 2018 observed this year’s UN-World Environment Day Celebration at the Winneba Lorry Station.

The event which was to raise global awareness about the declining condition of the environment as well as educate people on the importance of keeping healthy and maintaining a green environment was held under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

“Do not litter to clean” – message to Effutu Municipal Assembly Junior High School

Pupils of Effutu Municipal Assembly Junior High School, Winneba, have been advised to desist from indiscriminate littering and encourage people in their communities to adopt good sanitary practices. The advice was given to the pupils when the Director SHAPE Attitude Ghana gave a talk at the school during one of his visits to schools on sensitisation and awareness raising campaigns.

In-coming national service personnel to act as agents of change

Final year students from three tertiary institutions in the Central Region of Ghana have been urged to go out and act as agents of change in their communities. This advice was given to students of University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) during the annual orientation of final year students who will be joining the National Service Scheme. The event is organised annually in March and April by the Central Regional National Service Secretariat.
