Using community radio to facilitate community participation in children’s well being

SHAPE Attitude Ghana was invited to give a talk on sanitation at a forum at Gomoa Ohua near Dawurampong off Apam Junction on Friday 27th October, 2017. The forum which was organised by Radio Peace, Winneba, had the theme “Community Participation in Children’s wellbeing”. It was part of series of community activities organised in collaboration with UNICEF, Radio Peace, Ghana Health Service, School Health Education Programme of the Ghana Education Service, Environmental Health Unit and Chiefs of Gomoa Ohua.

First year students of the College of Community Health Nursing, Winneba, have been advised to adopt good sanitary practices to protect their health and the environment. The advise was given at the College by the Director of Shape Attitude Ghana, Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, at one of the orientation sessions for “freshers” on 5 October 2017.

Shape Attitude Ghana Celebrates Third Anniversary with SACOST-UEW

Shape Attitude Ghana celebrated its third anniversary with the Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), on 5th June 2017. The theme for the occasion was “Promoting litter free environment.” The anniversary was celebrated alongside the World Environment Day with joint activities.

The event was started with a brass band precession by pupils from selected schools in Winneba on the streets around the Winneba lorry station and ended at the lorry station where the durbar took place.

SACOST-UEW and Shape Attitude Ghana join to celebrate World Environment Day

The Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in collaboration with shape Attitude Ghana on Monday 5th June, 2017 celebrated the World Environment Day to educate and sensitise the general public on protecting the environment well for our survival. The theme for the occasion was “connecting people to nature.”

Shape Attitude Ghana Celebrates 3rd Anniversary

Shape Attitude Ghana would mark its third anniversary on June 5, 2017. The celebration is being organised in collaboration with The Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST - UEW) and Zoom Lion Foundation. The theme for the year's celebration is dubbed Promoting Litter Free Environment. Three years down the line, the organisation is still in the business of sensitising local communities to avoid indiscriminate littering in order to have a clean environment. 

National Service Personnel urged to act as agents of change – University of Cape Coast

Upcoming national service personnel who will be posted to the field in September 2017 were urged to act as agents of change as they perform their duties.  The appeal was made by the Chief Executive Officer of Shape Attitude Ghana, Mr Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, at a pre-service orientation organised by the Central Regional Secretariat of the National Service Scheme at the University of Cape Coast on 7th April 2017.

Inculcating the concept of sanitation into the people of Alata, Apam

Students of the Department of Theatre Arts found in the School of Creative Arts, University of Education, Winneba staged a performance at Alata in Apam on inculcating the concept of sanitation into the people as an intervention in maintaining good sanitary conditions in the town.

The performance comprised poetry recital, drama and dance.  In all these, the central message was on maintaining good sanitary conditions by avoiding indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse as well as open defecation.

Shape Attitude Ghana at the annual Christmas party of Radio Peace 88.9 MHz FM, Winneba

Radio Peace 88.9 MHz FM, a community radio station based in Winneba, organised its annual Christmas party for children on December 30, 2016.  The party is usually organised for disadvantaged children in and around Winneba. This year, it was almost 150 children from the Rafiki Orphanage Home and St Annas Children’s Home that were brought together for the party.
