GAFICS meets in Winneba and pledges to support Shape Attitude Ghana

The Ghana Association of Former International Civil Servants (GAFICS) met in Winneba on Thursday, 18 August 2016 for its monthly meeting which is usually held in Accra on the penultimate Thursday of every month. The Association met for its regular meeting and to show solidarity with Shape Attitude Ghana’s project on sanitation.

In his briefing to GAFICS, the founder of Shape Attitude Ghana, Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, who is also a member of GAFICS, gave the background to the project and the activities that Shape Attitude Ghana undertakes.

Atinka FM 104.7 and Metro TV open their doors to Shape Attitude Ghana

Renowned TV and radio stations in Ghana, Metro TV and Atinka FM 104.7 respectively have thrown their weight behind Shape Attitude Ghana in the campaign on good sanitation practices especially, indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse.

Metro TV featured Shape Attitude Ghana on their programme “Afutusem” on Monday and Tuesday, 1st & 2nd August 2016 on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Effutu Traditional Area presents “Thank You” award to SHAPE Attitude Ghana

The founder of SHAPE Attitude Ghana was presented with a “Thank You” award by the Effutu Traditional Area in May 2016. The award was in recognition of the contribution Shape Attitude Ghana is making to improve the health and sanitation of the people in the Effutu area. The award giving ceremony took place on 12 May 2016 when the founder of SHAPE Attitude Ghana was not in town to receive it but was presented to him on Thursday, 2 June 2016 by David Abeku Sly and Charles Agbetor when the founder returned to Winneba.

Sensitisation and awareness campaign in schools resumes

Sensitisation in schools to raise awareness of school children on avoiding littering and indiscriminate dumping of refuse resumed after the Christmas break in February 2016.  Shape Attitude Ghana visited Mother’s Unique Love School and the Effutu Municipal KG and Primary Schools in February. This was the third visit made to these schools by Shape Attitude Ghana.

Education of the public on good sanitary conditions and enforcement of sanitation laws

The Director of Studies of the Ghana Police Command and Staff College in Winneba, Chief Superintendant Oscar Kofi Amevenku, has said that it is important for the law enforcement agencies to engage in education of the public on keeping their surroundings clean before enforcing the laws on sanitation. He made his comments at the college on February 10, 2016 after a presentation delivered by the Director of Shape Attitude Ghana on the topic "Attitude as a main factor for poor sanitary conditions in our surroundings".

Awareness campaign on littering and environmental cleanliness continues in churches

Shape Attitude Ghana continues to raise awareness on indiscriminate littering and environmental cleanliness in churches. Two churches were visited in January 2016, namely the Eden Revival Church and the Christ Apostolic Church in Winneba. The congregations in the two churches were reminded of the dangers we expose ourselves to by littering and dumping refuse indiscriminately in our surroundings.

Two key organisations continue with their collaboration on keeping the environment clean

The Council of Churches Winneba Branch and the Ghana Education Service of the Effutu Municipality have restated their collaboration to work with Shape Attitude Ghana in the campaign against indiscriminate littering and dumping of refuse as well as open defecation. The assurance was given to the Director, Shape Attitude Project, at separate meetings with the organisations on 12 and 18 January 2016.
